Exploring RVA’s Local Art Galleries: A Photo Dump of Recent Visits
Richmond’s Local Art Galleries: Eye Candy to Spark Creativity
As someone who spends hours writing each day, I love breaking up the routine with a bit of creative inspiration through art dates around town. Local galleries are a fun (and free!) way to recharge and spark some creativity. Here’s a roundup of some of the galleries I’ve checked out over the past couple of weeks:
Pamplemousse Gallery
Possibly my favorite gallery so far. It’s a small, quirky, and informal space run by friendly volunteers. The gallery showcases fresh, local talent and always has something playful on display. I caught the last exhibition before it ended—very intriguing stuff! Right now, they have a new show titled Best in Show.

Gallery5
The Take Me to Your Garden: Art by the Middle East Diasporas exhibit is still on view, but it’s closing this weekend. Be sure to catch it while you can—it’s a rich and diverse collection that you won’t want to miss.
Antennae
This artist-run studio and gallery space is located in the Arts District and is run by @flavorhead

on Instagram. The front area has a pristine, white-walled gallery with life-sized displays of the artist’s work, while the back serves as an eclectic studio space. It’s definitely a cool place to explore.
Reynolds Gallery
This space has a more traditional, private gallery vibe, which can feel a little intimidating at first. But once inside, you’ll find an incredible selection of modern and contemporary art. The bright and colorful pieces contrast beautifully with the gallery’s stately, two-story home-like setting in the Fan. Plus, the staff is friendly and welcoming.
